Why have the black teas changed?

We have recently improved our Elegant English Breakfast tea. Originally blended with Nam Lanh tea leaves, the new blend contains Putharjhora Dooars, Darjeeling late flush and Panshagarh for a fuller flavour and quicker brew time.

We have made this change after conversations with Pukka fans. Their feedback was that this tea took longer to brew than they’d like, and the beautiful flavour of the tea was delicious when drunk black but was masked by the addition of milk. As most English Breakfast drinkers use milk, we felt this was necessary to address. We’re confident our new blend is delicious and complex when drunk with or without milk, and now brews in 3 minutes so it can be enjoyed quickly and to your own taste preference.

The new blend, in particular; Darjeeling late flush is specifically grown and harvested in the Autumn to provide its copper colour, full bodied texture yet light, delicate and fruity flavour. The blend comes from two estates; one a fair trade estate, home to a herd of local elephants set on a plain between two rivers as well an organic estate focusing on empowering local communities and providing education.

This tea is fair for life which ensures a certification standard for Fair Trade and responsible supply-chains.
